A number of donations were made after the family suggested in lieu of flowers, donations to music programs (such as the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony, the SB Symphony Strings/MAC group, the Music Academy of the West’s MERIT program, or the SYHS Music Program).
Dedications:
- Prayers were given at a Tibetan monestary
- The Santa Ynez High School Vocal Ensemble, of which Oige was a member, performed the song ‘An Irish Blessing’ in Oige’s honor on March 24, 2010
- To commemorate Oige’s birthday, family and friends donated blood
- Violist Helen Callus performed a concert in Santa Barbara dedicated to Oige on January 17, 2010
- The Santa Barbara Youth Symphony, of which Oige was a member, performed Bach’s “Orchestra Suite No. 3″ in memory of Oige at their winter concert on November 22, 2009.
Just came across this web site. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Oige was such a neat kid, he continues to be in my prayers, and although you live with the pain of him gone, know others think of him often too. I received a brief message on Facebook from someone who did not have a chance to get to know Ogie well. He told me that the poppy seeds he planted in honor of Ogie are thriving. I, too, am happy to see so many poppy plants in my front yard. I love that Ogie is remembered through nature and beauty.
