Youth Symphony Winter Concert – Nov. 22, 3pm

In two weeks, on November 22, the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony will play their winter concert at 3pm. Bach's "Orchestra Suite No. 3" (score) will be played in memory of Oige at the concert. Bach was Oige's favorite composer (Oige had over 700 songs by Bach on his iPod).

Oige had been a member of the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony since 2002. He first played violin in the Junior Orchestra and then played the viola in the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony (and the Music Academy of the West's MERIT Program).

The Youth Symphony's Winter Concert will feature Rebecca Shasberger as cello soloist. The symphony is conducted by music director Andy Radford. The concert will begin at 3pm on November 22 at the Lobero Theatre.

Tickets prices:

  • Adults – $15
  • Seniors – $10

  1. Another season changes, another holiday seaons begins. I actively make the choice of being glad for the time I was privileged to spend with Oige so that the joy I experienced lives on.

    To Oige and his family on Thanksgiving, the best I can do is quote a Buddhist prayer:

    The Gatha of Impermanence

    All composite things are impermanent,
    They are subject to birth and death;
    Put an end to birth and death,
    And there is blissful tranquility.

    Namaste – Kelly, Rob, Molly and Norma
